Type gallons, get liters. The answer updates as you type and gives you two numbers, because a gallon isn't one size: a US gallon is 3.785411784 L and a UK (imperial) gallon is 4.54609 L, about 20% more. US gallons lead; the imperial answer sits right under it. Type "UK" or "imperial" after the number and that answer leads instead. Both use the exact legal definitions, not a rounded 3.79. Use it to read an American recipe, water heater, or aquarium spec in liters, work out how much a 5-gallon bucket of paint really holds, compare fuel prices across a border, or check a British boat or caravan manual without guessing which gallon it means.
How to use
- 1
Type the volume in gallons. Decimals (2.5), fractions (1/2, 1 1/2, 1½), grouped thousands (1,000), and a trailing gal or gallons all work.
- 2
Read liters in the result card. The big number assumes US gallons; the line under it gives the UK (imperial) gallon answer.
- 3
If your gallons are British, add UK or imperial (5 UK gal) and the imperial answer moves to the top.
- 4
Tap Copy to grab just the liters, or Copy formula to grab the whole calculation. The table below lists common sizes, from a half-gallon carton to a 100-gallon tank.
