Paste an essay, an article or an email and see how many paragraphs it has, plus the sentences and words in each. A paragraph is a block of text with a blank line before the next one, the way almost every editor and website separates them. If your text came from somewhere that uses single line breaks instead, like some PDFs or chat apps, switch on count every line as a paragraph. Under the totals, every paragraph gets its own row with its word and sentence count, and any paragraph over 150 words is marked, because on a phone that's a wall of text people skip. Sentence counting ignores the periods in decimals, initials and abbreviations like Dr. and e.g., so the numbers match what a reader sees. Nothing you paste leaves your browser.

How to use

  1. 1

Paste or type your text into the box.

  2. 2

Read the totals: paragraphs, sentences, words, and the averages per paragraph.

  3. 3

If the count looks too low because your text has no blank lines, switch on count every line as a paragraph.
